Here is my interpretive landscape made from an original Ektachrome, captured on Sauvies Island (Near Portland, Oregon on the Columbia River) during the summer of 1975. The fauvish color palette is evocative of impressionist works from the last century and in particular my grandfather, Clyde Leon Keller Sr., who was well known as one of Oregon's premier impressionist oil painters. Sauvies Island held a particular fascination for him; he is highly regarded for his prolific love for this scenic island, first visited by him in the early twentieth century-- he returned to paint there for nearly fifty years through 1959 and worked on unfinished canvasses until his death in 1961.
This poetic image is included in a larger documentary project concerning the beauty, folk and history of the inhabitants of the pacific Northwest.

ABOUT CLYDE KELLER:
Hi, I'm a photographer and artist selling my fine art prints at clydekellerphoto.etsy.com.
My work is sold as Fine Art Giclee (inkjet) prints or fade resistant Fuji Crystal Archive (photographic) prints.
Clyde is known internationally for his historic photographs of Robert F. Kennedy. His RFK images are featured in Rory Kennedy's documentary film, "ETHEL" which debuted at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. The RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights has recently acquired key images from Clyde's RFK portfolios for their collection. Historic photos of author Ken Kesey, William Burroughs and actor Bill Murray are featured in Mark Christensen's book Acid Christ. Clyde's portrait of actor/director Warren Beatty is the cover photo for Peter Biskind's, Star. Several vintage documentary images appear in a new NFL films project, entitled, "Fearsome Foursome" as well as Dan Forrer's upcoming HBO documentary film centering on the birth of Hip Hop music. The Seattle Museum of History and Science now features his vintage Seattle skyline panoramas. His regional portraits of surviving pioneer families (and characters) appear in several new books, periodicals and webzines, including Ken Bilderback's, Creek with No Name, a new soft cover about the history of Cherry Grove, Oregon.
Clyde is the grandson of Clyde Leon Keller, (1872-1962) an important Oregon-based Plein-Air Impressionist Painter. His portfolios can be viewed at www.clydekeller.com.

Please visit Elizabeth's shop to view a bevy of her remarkable (and original) fine art paintings!
I have a HUGE body of work which not only includes paintings, but drawings and photographs. I plan in the future to present prints for sale besides my paintings. I have shown in galleries and art shows but I think I have found my perfect "niche" in Etsy -- selling online allows me the maximum amount of time to tend to my artwork and artist's psyche!
"MY PAINTINGS TELL STORIES" - My GREATEST inspiration in my childhood were the illustrations by John R. Neill for The Wizard of Oz series of books. The black and white drawings danced, flowed, moved out of the page -- so powerful! Other inspirations include "everything tropical", marine life, Chinese/Asian, flowers/plants (scenes from my property) and the look of French Provence linens and their colors -- well, let's just say: EVERYTHING!

Ten minutes from the beautiful Pacific Ocean, one can walk miles, music of the deep ocean at their side, winds styling hair creatively, breathing intangible and intriguing, Life Forces. I love art and agree with Celine that imagination and creativity are essential to my life...living near water or surrounded by forest, moved by color and nature.
Long summer days of an only child found me happily cleaning house, ironing to San Francisco soul music, learning to dance with a friend, outside watering, skating in my San Francisco Bay town, riding buses endlessly to the dentist, See's Candy Store, the library or hooked on soap operas, my parents far away working. Looking at clouds and daydreaming while walking miles to and from school, saving 35 cents for french pastries or colorful fresh fruit from the Central Valley were my delights.

I'm a Southern California artist blessed to be living near the beach.
You'll see a variety of seascapes and landscapes in my art work, I'm inspired by my natural surroundings and it's fun to try and capture a moment....
Since I grow up in Los Angeles and was influenced by many cultures, you'll also see those influences in my paintings.
April 27, 2012-- Featured in Elizabeth Graf's fine new treasury collection entitled: ETSY EXCEPTIONALISM -- Treasury #3 -- Come in and Visit!
Do visit Elizabeth's shop to view her incredible paintings-- you might become a fan!
I grew up on Long Island, New York, which is an island AND a long peninsula (connected by bridges) not far from the beach and I now live in Florida, which is a long peninsula (connected by land) -- and I am not far from the beach. From the moment I could hold a crayon I have been an artist -- and possessed a "light bulb" inside my head that was always shining. It is a wonderful way to live Life -- being creative and always inspired. I feel very lucky.
I was privileged to attend one of the finest art schools in this country -- Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in Manhattan -- there I met very talented and interesting people. I have shown in Manhattan, upstate New York, on both coasts of Florida (including Miami and Miami Beach). For a while I had an 8 foot x 8 foot mural along Collins Avenue in South Beach. One of the paintings on this website was made into a billboard that stood for a month along the bay in Sarasota, FL.
I like to see the good and beauty in everyone and everything. It is my hope that my artwork reflects these feelings.
My mother's family was from the Caribbean and probably is the reason for my fascination with marine life, plants and tropical motifs.
I appreciate your interest in my work and if you have any questions, just contact me. I also work on custom pieces and if you want to see images of paintings I have sold prior to Etsy, I would be happy to send those to you. They are in private collections.
Thank you, Elizabeth Graf
