A LIFETIME TOGETHER depicts an older couple enjoying a summer day in their backyard. I made this photograph as a teenager while at a friend's house-- the view was captured of the older couple unobtrusively as they sat directly across the street in plain view. The scene was photographed in an older Portland neighborhood near Mt. Tabor. I never knew much about them or even met them. It was only years later when going through my earlier work that I rediscovered this image. I was impressed with it at the time and had made an 11x14 inch black and white print, but later retired it to storage.
Much has been made of the symbolism of the elderly couple spending time together in a natural idealistic setting. Its power apparently dwells within a romantic conceptualization and realization for a lifetime spent together. I cannot deny the public's enchantment with this enduring image. I can only postulate that its power is amplified in part by its mysterious nature. Like a gestalt we allow our inner yearnings to project beyond the mundane in our quest to find a deeper more fulfilled meaning towards life's uncertain journey.
The donut holes in the background are the result from the special 500mm telephoto lens in use, a limited production Nikkor telephoto that employed mirrors in place of glass elements. The effect adds to the mood complementing the woman's paisley pattern dress... this portrait has proven to be a favorite since it was taken, a moment observed over 47 years ago.
This archival giclee print offers an exquisite range of tonal color, depth and brilliancy... faithfully capturing this poetic subject. Makes a strong impression. Suitable for immediate safe viewing and ready for framing.

ABOUT DEBRA BOUDREAU:
SteelGoatStudio offers a wide and fascinating range of wonderful objets d’art, primitive folk art and iconic cultural pieces, many of which I have collected in my travels to many countries. "Welcome to my little art shop! Everything you see in my shop is handmade by me.
Whenever I create small forms which for parts of my jewelry I always try to express my emotions in the best way possible. I spontaneously take my inspiration from nature, its variety of forms, structures, materials and colors in a very spontaneous way. I very often create my works of non-standard materials and I like to combine raw, hand-forged forms with subtle details.
I love to experiment which usually brings surprising results. I never limit the character of my works during the design stage - modern forms blend together with ethnic motives, organic ones with the folklore, etc.
Folklore references visible in some of the series are a direct reflection of my fascination with the multicultural world. What I consider most important in my works are: the joy of creation and the search for new form solutions. All jewelery is entirely hand-made and usually only in one unique piece, not in series, although it may happen that I create a series for a limited edition. All works originate from a unique idea and are made with the greatest precision."

"I think every story chronicling the things we love should begin with the words "Once upon a time...."
Yes, once upon a time .... I would sit and watch my mother sew using her creamy tan Singer sewing machine. I have been sewing since then.
I own literally bundles and bundles of fabric that I have collected for many years. I started teaching my two daughters to sew when they were about 4 and 5.
I live in a small coastal town in California where we have beautiful weather nearly year round. Only, sometimes, we do get a lot of rain.
My workspace is a small room off our garage, which previous owners used as a wine cellar. I have filled this space from top to bottom with fabric instead of wine. I try to keep it organized by color so I can easily find what I need. I also have lots of ribbon, jars of buttons, patterns, and thread that are (for the most part) color coordinated. When it does get chaotic and disorganized, I have a few kind helpers who volunteer to come and help put things back together.
I LOVE to use industrial cotton canvas in my designs for many reasons. It is very durable and sturdy for today’s busy lifestyles. I like it because it carries an industrial look and gives just the feel I really strive to achieve. I always launder my fabrics before I start working with them to pre-shrink them, and if I can find "previously loved" canvas, even better. My bags are always lined in colorful cotton florals, stripes, or solids.
Recently I have also been experimenting with dyeing my natural cotton canvas. I was really impressed with how the dye took and how it turned out.
Though I do have a dedicated workspace (which is not very big), very frequently my kitchen table serves as my work area. I recruit my two girls at times to help with turning straps, pressing, and picking up fabric scraps from the floor. This is always a big help.
Customer satisfaction is very important to me. I have received many emails from my customers on how much they have enjoyed their handmade item, and for this I am very appreciative."

Curated by Mariana and Paula from Branda: http://www.etsy.com/shop/branda?ref=pr_shop_more
We are Mariana and Paula, two sisters who work together and love to do it.
Our garments are accessories, easy to use and combine with any style of dress, both for women as for men. Compliments that give a touch of distinction to the wardrobe: scarves, collars, mittens, fingerless gloves, hats, berets and caps.
Most of our garments are our own design and we incorporate ideas or designs of others or the traditions when we believe that fit our style. We propose classical models, urban, ready to be used.
We knit entirely by hand with two needles being very careful in all endings.
Any stitch is part of the everything, disposing harmoniously one with each other, forming and articulating the mesh design that holds up to itself. Not only knit a plot, but also thinking of building it to make a garment unique.
We use the fibers that the current market provides us. Natural fibers such as alpaca and merino wool, blended wool as Manos del Uruguay, pured and blended and artificial fibers such as acrylic. Crafted spun, hand dyed and from the industrial production. In the election we tend to choice traditional textures and striking a balance between quality and price.
We have no limits to the use of color. We believe that all colors are acceptable to the extent you feel comfortable. The color choice should not depend on fashion, the habits and customs but from the personality and mood.
Each of our garments is hand knitted by both of us and our mother. We are our own models and photographers. We manage personally our shop at Etsy and we advertise through our blogs Branda's Collections, The4inOne, Flickr, Facebook and twitter.
Branda is the name we have chosen for our store in tribute our grandmother who taught us to knit with 2 needles when we were child. For her, we love knitting and try with different fibers, textures and colors. She didn't use patterns for knitting, she made it "by eye" and gave us her way of doing.

Curated by Rene of Lillyzcardz: http://www.etsy.com/shop/lillyzcardz?ref=pr_shop_more
Ever since I can remember, I've loved creating things. When I was in grammar school, my family would spend the summers at our cabin in South Lake Tahoe. I loved sitting on the front porch with my grandmother where I would design Christmas ornaments and then sew them by hand. Then around November my grandmother would walk me around her neighborhood so I could go door-to-door selling my ornaments. When I was in high school, I hand embroidered on bandanas and sold them at a shop in Historic Folsom. I've always loved making things by hand. My most recent adventure was designing and sewing dog clothes that I sold at a local dog boutique. Because of chronic pain, it soon became too difficult for me to sew, That's when I decided to combine the two things in life I enjoy the most:: dogs (I always have anywhere from two to six dogs at my house on any given day), and creating things by hand. I love taking pictures of my dogs (and cats, and any interesting things I find on my walks or travels) and making original cards out of them. I often dress up the dogs in costumes and props to make the cards more fun. I want my photos to be a reminder of the old days, before we had computer programs to alter the look of a photo. Remember when you'd take pictures and you couldn't wait to get them developed to see how they turned out? The photos weren't always perfect, but they were of the real thing, not digitally altered. Although I use a digital camera to take my pictures, all props and settings are real, not digitally added. However, I do like to add embellishments to my cards sometimes to give them a bit of dimension and whimsy. Growing up I always dreamt of having my own store where I could sell all the things I made. I never did open a shop, but I'm finding through Etsy that I can finally realize my dream and have my own store where I can sell things I create. I guess it's never too late to realize your dreams (I'm 53 years old!). I hope you enjoy my cards as much as I enjoy making them.

Hi my name is Bob,
Welcome to My Wifes Studio! My wife Evie and I live in Oregon, truly a beautiful part of the country. We enjoy the Northwest and spend a lot of our free time sightseeing and exploring the local area. One must realize that my idea of the local area is from the California border with Oregon, North to British Columbia & from the Pacific Ocean east to about Jackson, Wyoming. This is an area about 600 X 800 miles square (just a Texas thing I guess). We are spending more and more time in the Columbia River Gorge and Eastern Oregon desert areas lately. Seems there are more pretty rocks, mountains and things we like to look at over there. One of our passions has become Northern & Eastern Idaho, ALL of Montana and Wyoming. Life does not get much better than scouting for deer after a prime rib sandwich at the Irma Hotel in Cody.
