From original Kodachrome
Large 16x20 inch archival color giclee print Image dimensions are 11.4x17 inches Heavyweight Epson Satin paper Signed/Dated on lower white border
Clear sleeved on foam core Shipped flat, insured with delivery confirmation
This is my earliest surviving Kodachrome from 1962 made when I was still fourteen years old-- and a glimpse at Yamasaki's Arches in a beautiful composition. Designed by Minoru Yamasaki, Pacific Science Center's white arches rise above a court of reflecting pools. The image was captured near the Century 21 Exposition which featured the Astronaut John Glen exhibit, (first man to orbit the earth) located outside the Pacific Science Center not far from where this photo was captured. Glen's Space Capsule, drew huge crowds, but I was equally drawn to this magnificent pictorial view.
The color is in remarkable condition-- the original was kept in dark storage and shows little if any deterioration after 48 years! Please enjoy!
This archival color giclee print offers an exquisite range of tonality and brilliancy faithfully capturing this vintage view now 30 years ago. Suitable for immediate safe viewing and ready for framing. The title art is on the print, but not the copyright information.

1979 Seattle Summer Skyline, Clyde Keller photo art print
"Seattle Summer Skyline" The View Across Elliott Bay Seattle, Washington, 1979
From original Kodachrome
This urban skyscape chronicles the Old Seattle skyline (the year Microsoft moved back to Seattle) in its last days before the onset of the 1980s and it's emergence as the Emerald City. As shown the harbor is bustling with activity as seen from atop West Seattle and looking across Elliott Bay towards the downtown area showing cargo container ships and ferries as well as a jet in flight over the emerging downtown skyline. The city still stands tall but the ferries have been replaced and the landscape has changed over the past three decades with many new skyscrapers populating the landscape. Part of a larger 1980 photographic art calendar project entitled "Market & Square." The popular calendar was dedicated to the many people who fought for the preservation of Pioneer Square and the Pike Place Market... and to the Artisans, Farmers, Street Musicians, Merchants and everyone who has ever known the market and Square.

1979 Seattle, Chinese ship, Liu Lin Hai Celebration, Clyde Keller art
Liu Lin Hai Celebration Port of Seattle Pier 86, April 18, 1979 Vice Premier of China, Deng Xiaoping Secretary of Transportation to the United States, Brock Adams Washington State Governor, Dixie Lee Ray
This celebratory photograph withinside the cargo vessel captures this normalization of relations. Shown are Chinese and American Dignitaries in the Captain's Dining Room on board the cargo vessel, Liu Lin Hai. The Lui Lin Hair docked at Port of Seattle's Pier 86. The event was historically important with many dignitaries attending, including Senator Brock Adams. The 637 foot Liu Lin Hai entered Washington’s Puget Sound on April 18, 1979 and tied up at Seattle’s Pier 86 grain terminal. It was the first time in nearly 30 years that a Chinese commercial vessel had entered a U.S. Port.
I could not have planned this celebratory photograph; the atmosphere was festive with many important dignitaries attending from the two countires including the Vice Premier of China, Deng Xiaoping, and the Secretary of Transportation to the United States, Brock Adams. The event was the result of efforts made by W. James Amoss Jr. of Lykes Bros. Steamship Co and Stan Barer, a lawyer to permit the calling of cargo ships between the two countries. The Liu Lin Hai, a COSCO cargo ship, calling upon the Seattle Port under the Chinese Flag, opened a new page of Sino-U.S. history. It was an historical turning point that marked the beginning of a new era of trade. Also pictured is Washington State Governor, Dixie Lee Ray. This archival B&W giclee print offers an exquisite range of tonality and brilliancy faithfully capturing this historical subject. Makes a strong impression. Suitable for immediate safe viewing (the print is shrink wrapped on foam core board) and ready for framing.

1980 Puget Sound, Swept Away, Seeking Newer Worlds, Clyde Keller photo
Swept Away Seeking Newer Worlds... Sailing on Puget Sound Seattle, Washington
From Original 1981 Kodachrome
"Swept Away" captures a sailboat surrounded by a golden wash of highly reflected light as was found in the late afternoon 29 years ago on Puget Sound. The nineteenth century poet, Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote metaphorically of seeking newer worlds-- of "sailing beyond the sunset." It seems this vintage image from 1981 can serve to relive an all but forgotten romanticism in a contemporary setting- capturing a feeling of being caught up and being swept away by the drama of an isolated sailboat-- and to imagine other worlds and adventures that await.
This poetic image is included in a larger documentary project concerning the entire Puget Sound region.

1980, Skagit River, The Nature That Is Ours, Clyde Keller Photo
The Nature That Is Ours Skagit River, Washington From Original Kodachrome
In this romantic view of the Skagit River I am giving homage to the nineteenth century writings of Wordsworth and Tennyson who wrote of such concepts as, "The Nature That Is Ours." This inspirational photo is augmented by a cloud cover that partially obscured the sun. My image reflects a naturalism that has been championed over time by many artists, writers and poets who sensed a tremendous loss resulting since the advent of the industrial age.eand wrote critically of this new process of dehumanization-- and metaphorically of seeking newer worlds-- of sailing beyond the sunset.
This poetic image is included in a larger documentary project concerning the folk and history of the inhabitants of the Skagit Valley.

Days of Summer Impressionistic art print View of Olympics with sailboat
From Original Kodachrome, circa 1979
This impressionistic image of the sailboat captures a romantic feeling of reflected light under the awe of the inspiring Olympic Mountains. Even though the sailboat is far away the telephoto lens brings it and the opposite shore and the Olympic Peninsula into closer view. The bold colors and "pointalistic" fine art technique captures the reflected light off the water and with a dash of abstraction infused into the scene to make this a most aesthetically pleasing rendering of a fantastic subject.

Foggy Smith Tower, 1981 Seattle Pioneer Square, Clyde Keller Photo
Foggy Smith Tower Pioneer Square View Seattle, Washington
From Original Kodachrome, circa 1981
This impressionistic image of the Smith Tower was taken in January of 1981. The fog was thick and partially obscured the view of Seattle's most venerable historic building, once it's most modern "skyscraper" and now revered for its beauty.
This is a most romantic rendering taken with a time exposure on a tripod to lend an ethereal feeling-- of being engulfed by the fog. I couldn't help but be reminded of the fantastic Flatiron Building in Manhattan, New York-- photographed by Alfred Steiglitz over 107 years ago.
