Two 11x14 Inch Prints on Fuji Crystal Archive Lustre Paper Signed/Dated and Titled on lower white borders Shipped Flat/Insured with Tracking "TWO PORTRAITS" "Eugene McCarthy Close In" and "Robert Kennedy Up Close" May 1968 Portraits
Intense street portraits of the two Democratic Contenders for the nomination of their party to run for the U.S. Presidency, both taken during the Oregon Primary, May 1968.These intimate portrayals came out of from the volatile May 1968 Oregon Presidential Primary Campaign. The poses are revealing of the personalities of both candidates with up-close, intimate camerawork. McCarthy won the Oregon Primary and this portrait was made shortly before that election. The camera I used for all of the Kennedy photographs was an original Motorized Nikon F with Nikkor Lenses. The two portraits were taken with a 55mm "Micro" Nikkor lens, a personal favorite for available light razor sharp portrait photography.
Please note that the display photo combines the two prints.

"STUMP SPEECH"
Whistle Stop, Woodburn, Oregon,
RFK Speech: American Foreign Policy, Vietnam and Nationalism
The Stump Speech Portraits were captured at Woodburn, Oregon during a series of classic Whistle Stops from Portland to Eugene along the Willamette Vally corridor. Using a 300mm Nikkor with an original motorized Nikon F... his speech was rapid fire and RFK continually changed expression as he discussed the issues of the campaign. I shot two rolls of 135 Tri-X film photographing every significant gesture and facial expression he made during this particular speech. This collection is descriptive of Kennedy's compelling emotional range as he spoke about the imposing threat of nuclear war. Kennedy fought to end the War in Vietnam; he pushed for Civil Rights as Attorney General; his positive vision for the advancement of peace, justice, equality and responsibility is as relevant today.

Two 11x14 Inch B&W Photographic Prints Printed on Fuji Crystal Archive Lustre Paper Signed/Dated and Titled, Sleeved "DISTURBINGLY PROPHETIC"
Here are two special documentary arts images from the May 1968 Oregon Primary.
"PATHOS" is a 1968 Portrait of Robert Kennedy as he was about to enter into the Oregon Primary presidential race. There was always a sense of tragedy about RFK mixed in with the charisma... especially as caught in this telling (off-guard) moment. This disturbingly prophetic pose captures the subjective undercurrents that were always with him, especially regarding the assassination of his brother five years earlier.
"CABOOSE VIEWPOINT" Campaign Whistle Stop photograph taken from inside a Caboose at the Albany, Oregon Train Station. This is an unusual composition with a subjective point of view. Robert is shown with his hand to his forehead. The evocative (tragic) mood created by Kennedy's pose is framed and juxtaposed by the tuba (right) adding to the drama.
