William Burroughs with Libation, Ken Kesy bash, Clyde Keller photo
William Burroughs with Libation With Portland, Oregon poet, Marty Christiansen Kesey Poetical Hoo-Haw - June 9, 1976
Photographed in front of Ken Kesey's barn home on the day of the literary bash. Pictured is Burroughs holding his libation with pal poet, Marty Christensen. Our latest encounter with Marty Christiansen came in 2003 when he performed his poem, "Bats" on stage at the Bagdad Theater and Pub in Portland, Oregon. The event celebrated the publishing of "Spit In The Ocean #7 All About Kesey" edited by Ed McClanahan. Burroughs, who died at age 83 in 1997 from a heart attack, figured largely at the1976 Poetic Hoo-Haw, reading from his celebrated work, "Naked Lunch." Please view other photos from this Kesey collection which includes portraits of Portland poet, Walt Curtis who also read at the 1976 Poetic Hoo-Haw and at the 2003 event held at the Bagdad Theater.
