1979 SEATTLE SUMMER SKYLINE, Clyde Keller Photo Art Print
"SEATTLE SKYLINE SUMMER 1979" The View Across Elliott Bay Seattle- Summer 1979
From Original Kodachrome
Large 16x20 Inch Archival Color Giclee Print Image Dimensions are 11.4x17 inches Heavyweight Epson Satin Paper Signed/Dated on lower white border
Clear Sleeved on Foam Core Shipped Flat, Insured with Tracking
This urban skyscape chronicles the "old" Seattle in its last hurrah before the onset of the 1980s and it's emergence as the Emerald City. As shown the harbor is bustling with activity as seen from atop West Seattle and looking across Elliott Bay towards the downtown area. The city still stands tall but the ferries have been replaced and the landscape has slowly changed over the past three decades with many new skyscrapers. Part of a larger 1980 photographic art calendar project entitled "Market & Square." The popular calendar was dedicated to the many people who fought for the preservation of Pioneer Square and the Pike Place Market... and to the Artisans, Farmers, Street Musicians, Merchants and everyone who has ever known the market and Square.
This archival color giclee print offers an exquisite range of tonality and brilliancy faithfully capturing this vintage view now 30 years ago. Suitable for immediate safe viewing and ready for framing. The title art is on the print, but not the copyright information.

1980 Kodachrome, SWEPT AWAY, Seeking Newer Worlds, Clyde Keller Photo
"SWEPT AWAY" Seeking Newer Worlds... Sailing on Puget Sound
16x20 Inch Archival Giclee Print Satin Paper, Pigmented Inks Image Dimensions @ 11.6x17 Inches with white border Signed/Titled and Dated by Clyde Keller
Presented in Archival Sleeve, Unframed SHIPPED FLAT, Insured with Tracking
From Original 1981 Kodachrome
"Swept Away" captures a sailboat surrounded by a golden wash of highly reflected light as was found in the late afternoon 29 years ago on Puget Sound. The nineteenth century poet, Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote metaphorically of seeking newer worlds-- of "sailing beyond the sunset." It seems this vintage image from 1981 can serve to relive an all but forgotten romanticism in a contemporary setting- capturing a feeling of being caught up and being swept away by the drama of an isolated sailboat-- and to imagine other worlds and adventures that await.
This poetic image is included in a larger documentary project concerning the entire Puget Sound region.

1980 Kodachrome, THE NATURE THAT IS OURS, Clyde Keller Photo
"THE NATURE THAT IS OURS" Skagit River, 1980
16x20 Inch Archival Giclee Print Satin Paper, Pigmented Inks Image Dimensions @ 11.6x17 Inches with white border Signed/Titled and Dated by Clyde Keller
Presented in Archival Sleeve, Unframed SHIPPED FLAT, Insured with Tracking
From Original Kodachrome
"The Nature That Is Ours" captures a sectional view of the Skagit River in a pastoral rendering of inspirational beauty shaped by a cloud cover that partially obscures the sun. It reflects a naturalism that harkens back to a time when nineteenth century poets such as Wordsworth and Tennyson were inspired by nature (especially as the industrial age gained momentum) and wrote critically of this new process of dehumanization-- and metaphorically of seeking newer worlds-- of sailing beyond the sunset.
This poetic image is included in a larger documentary project concerning the folk and history of the inhabitants of the Skagit Valley.

Things are not quite what they seem in this surreal photograph of an underpass found near the Columbia River just out of Hood River. Frankly, a wrong turn had brought us to this imposing structure, but the strong afternoon light emboldened the concrete forms to make them stand out in relief and entice us to stop to make photographs. Geometric forms abounded. Shadows shot out like rays of light. And so this interpretive print combines both negative and positive values under strict control to give a sublime range of tonality. I used a 15mm Nikkor ultrawide lens to take in the entire bulwark. This is an image to be studied and to enjoy... both in the abstract and concrete.

Celebrities such as Charles Lloyd, William Burroughs, Paul Krassner and a then unknown Bill Murray attended as well.

ABOUT THE FORTHCOMING BOOK ACID CHRIST: Ken Kesey, LSD, and the Politics of Ecstasy Mark Christensen
Cover Photo and Interior Photos by Clyde Keller
When Ken Kesey burst on the literary scene in 1962 with his groundbreaking novel, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST, and scarcely two years later followed this feat with SOMETIMES A GREAT NOTION, his literary future seemed assured. A self-described "Okie" and campus jock—a wrestling champion at the University of Oregon––Kesey had risen to the ranks of Norman Mailer, John Updike and Truman Capote as a literary wunderkind. However, despite such an auspicious beginning, he opted instead to jump off the literary bandwagon in favor of a magic bus: accompanied by his Merry Pranksters, he set off on the free-wheeling drug-induced cross country road trip, that was to become the iconic journey chronicled in the bestselling ELECTRIC KOOL-AID ACID TEST by Tom Wolfe. Virtually overnight, Ken Kesey traded away a promising literary future to reinvent himself from man of letters to psychedelic superman—a hedonistic guru of the 60’s, spokesman and poster boy for the flower-power generation who devotedly embraced a freak-freely philosophy as exemplified by their call to arms: "Turn on, tune in, drop out." Now, through incisive research and personal interviews with sources ranging from former frat-house college buddies to friends, cohorts and acolytes, Mark Christensen portrays "The Commander" as a far more complex figure than the hippie cheerleader and media darling of the psychedelic era. We discover instead a conflicted and contradictory figure who became the Pied Piper to a generation of young seekers ten years younger than he, and preached of free love and peace-loving idealism, despite his down-home traditionalism and rigidly conservative viewpoint. Christensen, who was inspired at an early age by Kesey’s literary genius, writes of how he was "awed by his talents, awed more by how he had abandoned many of them, and fascinated by the evolution of his legend. As "King of the Counterculture’ Kesey became key to guiding if not creating one of the greatest mass movements in contemporary history." Within the context of the Ken Kesey story, journalist and author Mark Christensen, who "grew up around the Kesey Chautauqua," skillfully weaves his own personal vignettes to forge an exhilarating blend of biography and memoir, candidly and at times hilariously portraying himself as one of the flock who followed the edicts of his paisley-ed hero; Christensen’s personal and professional trajectory runs parallel and at times converges with that of Kesey and his followers, and the result is a sheep’s eye view of the shepherd that is revealing, tragic, and ruefully honest. As much a multi-dimensional portrait of Kesey himself, when viewed through the kaleidoscope of Christensen’s personal narrative, ACID CHRIST: Ken Kesey, LSD and the Politics of Ecstasy provides a panoramic view of a generation.

The view captures a westerly summer storm approaching Windy Point, part of the dramatic High Cascade basaltic basaltic lava flows found within the Belknap Crater region. Photographed from Windy Point at 4,909 feet. A Sonnar lens was employed to capture the sweep and stark contrast of the basaltic lava flows, monolithic rocks, barren tree and windswept stormy sky. We were particularly huge scale of the eruption shown to impressive effect by using a panoramic technique.

Belknap Crater is a rugged, awe inspiring and mystical place on top of our local world here in Central Oregon. This August 1999 image of the "rough, jagged clinkery surface" was caused by the rapid cooling process from the last recent eruption. Such drama takes your breath away. Belknap is a region that defies the old cliche... "once you've seen it, you've seen it all." One cannot help but be impressed by the vast scale of volcanism. This fisheye image captures my first impression of this foreboding landscape. It just strikes you as something quite alien and it's everywhere around you... it simply cannot be ignored.

Suitable for immediate safe viewing (the print is shrink wrapped on foam core board) and ready for framing. Windy Point stands at 4,909 feet and signals the gateway to the Belknap Crater Region. It's a wayside "must" stop along the Old MacKenzie Highway providing a dramatic vista of the basaltic lava flows scarcely two thousand years old.
This image was taken nearly ten years ago with a 16mm fisheye Nikkor to capture ALL the scene had to offer. The figure is included to give an idea of the amazing scale. The region is a rugged, awe inspiring and mystical place on top of our local world here in Central Oregon. The "rough, jagged clinkery surface" seen in the background was caused by the rapid cooling process from the last recent eruption. Such drama takes your breath away. Belknap Crater is a mystical place on top of our local world here in Central Oregon where weather and light constantly change to delight the eye. This August 1999 image of the lone tree in the foreground continues to attract. Like the place itself I return to this print with its own special magic firmly grounded in the realism of a moment found and experienced. Belknap is a region that defies the old cliche... "once you've seen it, you've seen it all." It is inspiring and nurturing for the imagination... it is a sanctuary away from the more mundane and calculated workaday world. True, the "rough, jagged clinkery surface" is at the same time foreboding. This is an alien like landscape which cannot be ignored.

This archival giclee print offers an exquisite range of tonality and brilliancy faithfully capturing this High Cascades subject. Makes a strong impression. Suitable for immediate safe viewing (the print is shrink wrapped on foam core board) and ready for framing.
This wide-field panorama captures a sweeping yet intimate view of wildflowers nestled in amongst rocks overlooking a westerly vista of the dramatic High Cascade basaltic lava flows found within the Belknap Crater region, near Sisters, Oregon. Photographed from Windy Point at the 4,909 foot level on a very turbulent, blustery and rainy day. The landscape is characterized by a rough, jagged "clinkery" surface caused by a rapid cooling process on the surface. This is a composite image combining many different techniques into one image.
In all of this is an implicit understanding of psychology... of giving the mind something to play with in the midst of a geology of violence. It is an awareness of the struggle for life to survive in an adverse environment, and it is in that structure upon which, we as human beings, wish to find purpose.

Print is imbued with a wide range color gamut capturing the atmosphere and dramatic scale of this recent 1,500 year old lava flow.
The photograph was taken June 29, 2007 inside the Belknap Crater region. A telephoto Nikkor lens was employed to capture the 32x10 degree sweep, atmosphere and stark contrast of the rough, jagged "clinkery" surface of the basaltic lava flows. The panorama was made facing intermittent 20 mph wind gusts and drizzle, both a technical challenge. Note the wild flowers shown far left and the atmospheric effects of the inclement weather. The violence and huge scale of the basaltic flow is shown to impressive effect by the use of panoramic technique.

Image captures clouds reflected on the hood of a 1966 Corvette Sting Ray. As illustrated the car's insignia is shown highlighted on the hood's mirror perfect finish. The interpretive image juxtaposes the abstraction of sky and clouds reflected into the natural deep blue of the mirror perfect finish on the car's hood with the classic Corvette checkered flag insignia. The flattened deadpan perspective (cropped in closely) heightens a sense of speed as if the raised cowling (center curvilinear vertical forms in the photo) were in flight... altogether an inspiring metaphor for this beloved era of American design. The car was featured as part of the annual Flashback Cruz held at Drake Park nearby downtown Bend, Oregon. It was reported that over 402 classic cars, 30 club cars and 70 vendor cars on display.
This archival giclee print offers an exquisite range of color, tone and brilliancy faithfully capturing this beloved subject. Although the view is wide the perspective is natural inviting the eye to explore the scene in all of its glorious hood detail. Makes a strong impression. Paupp comments on the specialness of RFK in the context of this art poster designed by Clyde Keller.
Terrence writes: "Connecting to the world, a myriad of hands reached back to Robert during his last few weeks in response to his energy and profound message. Robert was a living embodiment of his slain brother. He represents the resurrection of the promise that he and his brother embodied while in the White House. That restoration, after Dallas, took many forms: Civil Rights at home, Human Rights abroad and the end of Apartheid for all people. His message and charisma and his policies were understood as ending all of the cruel and artificial divisions allowing him to bring a process of healing between people." "Clyde's graphic art print symbolizes a special man in a special era which cannot be duplicated. Radiance of his personality, his charisma and his message all combined into one cloth. This was a palpable radiance that could be seen, touched and felt." The Signed Print offers a bold range of color, graphic realism... artfully capturing this important American politician. The view captures a south westerly vista of Crater Lake found within the Crater Lake National Park. Shown is the Phantom Ship, a fantastic rock formation as tall as a 16 story building and the oldest exposed rock (400,000 years old) withinside the caldera.
The photograph was taken July 30, 2007. A Nikkor lens was employed with careful exposure to capture the detail and tonality of highly reflective highlights seen in the late afternoon on this magnificent lake. "THE PHANTOM SHIP" Copyright © 2007 Clyde Keller

This impressionistic image of the sailboat captures a romantic feeling of reflected light under the awe of the inspiring Olympic Mountains. Even though the sailboat is far away the telephoto lens brings it and the opposite shore and the Olympic Peninsula into closer view. The bold colors and "pointalistic" fine art technique captures the reflected light off the water and with a dash of abstraction infused into the scene to make this a most aesthetically pleasing rendering of a fantastic subject.
