"SKI BOWL" Abstract time lapse photography of highway vehicle lights Mt. Hood at Government Camp Copyright © 2011 by Clyde Keller
Just after Thanksgiving I found myself on a trek over the snowy Cascades enroute to Portland with my pal Richard Bortels who was delivering needed blood for the Red Cross from our home in Bend, Oregon. This abstract image was photographed at the highway summit of Mt. Hood as we approached the Ski Bowl turnoff. The patterns of rich colors and lights are the result of about a one minute exposure coupled with multiple strobe lights bursts to "nail" where in the world we were. Of course the driving conditions were hazardous and the snow was mixing with ice to make this particular occasion exhilarating. The time lapse blurs were made keeping time (it's all in the wrist action with the lens acting as the nodal point) to a Kate Bush music CD-- yes, you might say this captures a rhythm inspired by one of my favorite British vocalist and performance artists whose newly released Lp record and CD, "Fifty Words For Snow" seemed perfect for the occasion. I want to also thank my Etsy pal, Vicki Diane whose expression of wanting to come along prompted a good measure of creativity from me-- hope everyone likes the result.
This archival giclee print offers an exquisite range of tonality and brilliancy faithfully capturing this Romantic High Cascades subject. Makes a strong impression in this larger 16x20 inch format. Suitable for immediate safe viewing and ready for framing.
Note: No typography appears on the art print. It is signed on the white border beneath the image.

Backyard Chicken, Central Oregon rustic Clyde Keller photo "Backyard Chicken" Buff Orpington perched on lava rock Central Oregon High Desert
Here is a splendid view of a most popular, cold-hardy backyard chicken, the handsome Buff Orpington Cock, shown here perched on a basaltic lava rock surveying his domain-- telling of the austere high desert terrain of Central Oregon.
Customer Feedback and Commentary:
"Buff Orpingtons are extremely gentle for backyard chicken fans. They're inquisitive and friendly. We have an Orpington rooster that was recently attacked and carried off by a stray dog after defending his flock. He fought his way free from the dog and came back home injured but as gentle as ever. One can learn a lot from an Orpington, if one tries." - Ken Bilderback
"One of my faves... especially since I now have hens of my own." - Rebecca Dresser
"I love this picture Clyde. Had chicken when I lived in Santa Fe, NM." - Iris Karina
"I am an ardent fan-- do visit his shop and follow his journey though his special and exciting Photo Odyssey." - Vicki Diane
NORTHEST FOLK features Clyde Keller documentary photographs drawn from the rural areas of Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. Many of the photographs were published and are presented in this portfolio for the first time. Of particular note are the rural subjects who comprise the "Valley People" and "Skagit Spring" series, both publishing projects centering on the original pioneer families and survivors of the pioneers who first settled these regions. There's a good measure of Americana in this collection as well with colorful iconic characters who bring to life the lore, history and traditions of the Pacific NW peoples.
Our Lady Liberty, Clyde Keller art print, Statue of Liberty, Music CD "Our Lady Liberty" Statue of Liberty from Ferry New York, July 1977
Interpretive 16x20 inch Art Print based upon the July 1977 photograph, Signed
Inspired by the beautiful antil-war song written and performed by Sonja L. Reiter with the talented Jon Bach on piano. I took this documentary photo on the way to Ellis Island from the ferry boat looking out towards the Statue of Liberty and to Ellis Island where so many immigrants to the United States first set shore. "Lady Liberty" the subject of her poignant song signifies the importance of this symbol for universal human rights and more recently-- a world free from war.

The Assange Tapestry "Free Speech, Free Assange" Large Fine Art Print of Julian Assange, WikiLeaks Founder
16x20 inch archival giclee print Printed on Epson Satin paper Signed/Dated and Titled on lower white border
Clear sleeved on foam core Shipped flat, insured with delivery confirmation
Here is my homage to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange who had won in the reader's poll conducted by Time Magazine as the Person of the Year. My art print incorporates public domain images and text of code from the recent Embassy Cables, in a new creative design that underscores Julian's philosophy and commitment to full internet transparency in this information age. The image doubles as one of those rare instances where my graphic approach links up with contemporary world views. Assange is a symbol for those who yearn to live in a world free from hegemony, secrets, lies, wars and repression. His work is widely supported throughout the world (75% from December 21st Poll by ZDnet) more so than it is domestically at 51%, but the fact is that he has not been charged with breaking any existing laws throughout the world and WikiLeaks release of confidential documents is supported by every major newspaper worldwide as being in the public's best interest. In a recent article appearing in Spiegel International, Thomas Darnstadt comments that, "Since 9/11, press freedom in the West has come under attack as governments argue that national security is more important than transparency. But the hunt for WikiLeaks is a greater danger to democracy than any information that WikiLeaks might reveal."
