Surreal double entendre of the absurd
WWI Aviator with goggles floating over modern jet

Another Country captures a whimsical surreal mixture of a WWI leather hand stitched Aviator's Goggle placed upon a turn of the century (@1900) porcelain bust and then set against the backdrop of a "modern" jet wing tip. The realization plays upon the absurd in a delightful double entendre. The clouds in the background were indicative of Midwest lightning storms (out of Kansas City) which caused our plane to change course to avoid them. The passenger view of the jet wing and clouds were made through my window as we sped along via Another Country of the Imagination.

This fine art quadtone print was produced from two negatives using montage techniques. The bust wearing the goggles came from an antique store in Portland, Oregon once known for its bevy of treasures- and a time capsule for great examples of Kitsch! The bust was photographed with natural window light as it was found. The image was originally used for a rock concert poster.
