"The Nature That Is Ours"
Skagit River, Washington
From Original Kodachrome
In this romantic view of the Skagit River I am giving homage to the nineteenth century writings of Wordsworth who wrote of such concepts as, "The Nature That Is Ours." This inspirational photo is augmented by a cloud cover that partially obscured the sun. My image reflects a naturalism that has been championed over time by many artists, writers and poets who sensed a tremendous loss resulting since the advent of the industrial age.eand wrote critically of this new process of dehumanization-- and metaphorically of seeking newer worlds-- of sailing beyond the sunset.
This poetic image is included in a larger documentary project concerning the folk and history of the inhabitants of the Skagit Valley.
