After the Storm
Summer Lake Bath House
Oregon Outback near Paisley
The photograph was taken May 22, 2008 near Paisley (Chewaucan) Oregon. The panorama offers a sweeping view of the grounds at the Summer Lake Hot Springs. Pictured is the historic bathhouse built in 1927 and still in use. The hot mineral water flows from spring at 113 degrees and cools as it flows into the bathhouse. Nearby the Oregon Outback Scenic Biway follows the shoreline of Summer Lake once inhabited by the Six Tribes of the Klamaths and their predecessors. During the afternoon dust clouds were storming over the highly alkaline lake. The intensity of clouds (left) and dramatic lighting was indicative of a severe change in weather which brought snow later in the evening, unusual for a region plagued by drought.
This is an ultra wide field panorama (106x67 degrees)
