The view captures a south westerly vista of Crater Lake found within the Crater Lake National Park. Shown is the Phantom Ship, a fantastic rock formation as tall as a 16 story building and the oldest exposed rock (400,000 years old) withinside the caldera.

The photograph was taken July 30, 2007. A Nikkor lens was employed with careful exposure to capture the detail and tonality of highly reflective highlights seen in the late afternoon on this magnificent lake.
