Here is an American Gothic take made in the historic Skagit Valley, Washington. Pictured are John and Vera Hedlund, -- he was 89 and she, 83 at the time this portrait was taken over 26 years ago. The couple is representative of the valley's pioneer heritage. They bought their farm during the Depression and worked it until 1976 when they retired. Made from the original 35mm Kodachrome transparency.
